The Problem for all Mankind:
We all like to achieve and accomplish great things. We like
to think that we are good people and that, despite our mistakes,
good things will happen to us if we try to do good things
for others. The Bible teaches otherwise.
- Romans 3:10, 23: "There is no one righteous, not
even one;"
"for all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God."
- We all are sinners and God who is holy, has promised to
punish sin with death, physically and eternally. Romans
6:23: "For the wages of sin is death."
- We live, we die, and we face God's judgment. Hebrews 9:27:
"It is appointed to men to die once, and after this
comes judgment." In Matthew 25:41, Jesus says, "Depart
from me, you who are cursed: in the eternal fire prepared
for the devil and his angels."
The Solution God Offers Us:
The Son of God became the perfect sacrifice for sinners, bearing
our guilt, taking the full brunt of God's wrath and punishment
by suffering the cruel death by crucifixion, although He had
done no wrong. He was buried but rose from the dead on the
third day, overcoming the curse and power of death.
- Romans 5:6: "But God demonstrates his own love for
us in this; while we were still sinners, Christ died for
us."
- II Corinthians 5:21: "God made him who had no sin,
to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness
of God."
- John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave
his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall
not perish but have eternal life."
- I John 1:9: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful
and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from
all unrighteousness."
- John 17:3: "Now this is eternal life that they may
know you, the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom you have
sent."
- When we approach the God of our universe through humble
repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, the only way of salvation,
we enjoy an acceptance that never fails. Matthew 11:28:
"Come unto me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and
I will give you rest."
- Consider eternity. How dreadful is Hell? How delightful
is Heaven? Hebrews 4:7b: "Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts."
